Isabella Sabbagh
Bella is a self-taught artist specializing in animal illustration and pet portraiture. A childhood spent around animals has left her with a love and passion for them and this informs much of her work. She has a particular affection for rats, having kept several of them as ‘pets’ at one time.
Her delight in observing their mischievous charm, inquisitiveness and intelligence led her to sketch small pen and ink images and then more detailed drawings and watercolour cards for friends and family.
The response to her charming pieces was so encouraging that she now does private commissions and sells her work at art fairs. She has recently completed a book-cover commission for the Hesperus Press.
Bella works mainly in ink and watercolour, and enjoys both the precision and unpredictability of these combined mediums. She is also experimenting with linocuts, and loves crafts of all kinds, including patchwork, knitting and jewellery-making, and enjoys baking.
